Prince William,Princess Kate and Prince Harry may not be on the road to Rio themselves, but they’ve made sure the British athletes heading to South America know they have their support.
In the build up to Friday’s opening ceremonies for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, the royal trio released a video sharing their best wishes for the 366 athletes competing as a part of Great Britain’s Olympic team.
All three reflected on the last summer Olympics, which took place right in their home city of London, in the video. William, Kate and Harry all attended multiple events throughout the Games.
“London 2012 saw this country come alive with a passion for sport,” William says in the video. “It saw people of all ages, and from all walks of life, join together to support Team GB.”
“London 2012 showcased the best of British sport, and we are all so excited to see what can be achieved in Rio.”
The royal trio spoke against a backdrop of the sights of Rio and clips from the 2012 games – including a few of them cheering in the crowd.

And it was Prince Harry who spoke to the rest of the country of the importance of celebrating and cheering on their athletes.
“Our athletes are an inspiration to us all, and we need the whole country to get behind them and cheer them on as they take to the world stage,” he said. “Let’s top 2012. Bring on the Great.”
